Lampasas County Community Wildfire Protection Plan
The American Conservation Foundation is working with Lampasas County, Texas, to develop a Community Wildfire Protection Plan that supports local wildfire preparedness and long-term risk reduction. This planning effort is focused on bringing together county officials, emergency response partners, landowners, and community stakeholders to better understand wildfire concerns and identify practical actions that can benefit communities across the county.
The Lampasas County CWPP is currently in development and has not yet been finalized or approved. As the process moves forward, input from local residents, fire departments, landowners, and planning partners will help shape the priorities and recommendations included in the final plan. The CWPP is being prepared with consideration of the Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003 and applicable Texas A&M Forest Service planning guidance.
This effort is intended to help Lampasas County reduce wildfire risk, strengthen emergency preparedness, and support a more resilient landscape. With its rural communities, ranchlands, grasslands, oak-juniper woodlands, creek corridors, and areas of scattered development, Lampasas County benefits from a countywide planning approach that considers both public safety and the protection of natural resources, homes, infrastructure, and working lands.
Through the development of the CWPP, ACF is helping support coordination among local governments, volunteer fire departments, emergency responders, landowners, and community partners. Once complete, the plan will provide Lampasas County with a locally grounded guide for wildfire mitigation projects, public education, preparedness efforts, and future resilience planning.
