Our Projects
American Conservation Foundation supports initiatives that safeguard native ecosystems, strengthen resilience to natural hazards and empower communities and private landowners to become active stewards of the land. Through a balanced approach that promotes environmental sustainability, public safety, and economic vitality, we aim to build stronger, more adaptable communities.
Texas Conservation Plan (TCP) for the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard (DSL)
The American Conservation Foundation (ACF) is the Permit Holder for the Texas Conservation Plan (TCP) for the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard (DSL). This Permit provides upstream, midstream, and private landowners/operators with regulatory assurances in exchange for proactive land management practices aimed at minimizing impacts to the DSL’s habitat.

Leon River & Cowhouse Creek Watersheds Flood Mitigation Project
To help communities in the Leon River Watershed (LRW), Cowhouse Creek Watershed (CCW), and beyond, this project is developing advanced flood prediction tools and safety programs to improve early warnings, reduce damage, and enhance water planning. In collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Blackland Research and Extension Center, RRG Professional Engineering, the American Conservation Foundation (ACF) is working to assess flood risks, implement safety measures, and protect the region from future disasters.

Community Wildlife Protection Plans (CWPP)
The American Conservation Foundation is developing Community Wildfire Protection Plans for rural counties across Central Texas to help reduce wildfire risk, protect property, and support healthier, more resilient landscapes. Through coordination with local governments, landowners, emergency responders, and community partners, ACF’s CWPP efforts help identify wildfire concerns, strengthen preparedness, and guide practical mitigation strategies that support safer, more fire-resilient communities.
